Sciton® Forever Young BBL™ Skin Resurfacing

Scinton Logo

The root cause of many common skin issues (i.e. acne, redness, and hyperpigmentation) originates below the surface of the skin, rendering topical treatments ineffective. To successfully treat these skin problems would require an advanced treatment powerful enough to reach the deeper skin layers without damaging the epidermis (outermost layer of the skin). Fortunately, the Sciton Forever Young BBL™ (broadband light) treatment is designed to safely and effectively treat skin conditions at their source and utilizes low-frequency photo-thermal energy to gently and safely heat the inner layers of the skin.

When damaged skin cells absorb this photo-thermal energy, they become stimulated to generate new collagen (a vital component of healthy, youthful skin). Forever Young BBL™ treatments are designed to address and correct a number of cosmetic skin issues, including, but not limited to:

  • Acne or acne-related scars
  • Age or sun spots
  • Scar revision
  • Uneven skin pigmentation, tone or texture
  • Moles or telangiectasia (spider veins)
  • Broken capillaries or redness (erythema)
  • Rosacea
  • Fine lines
  • Hands

Sciton® MicroLaserPeel™

Sciton® laser technology reduces the appearance of skin conditions associated with aging, sun damage, keratosis, pigment irregularities, and scarring through MicroLaserPeel™ treatment. Sciton® MicroLaserPeel™ uses an Erbium laser to create a skin resurfacing system that delivers light energy to target the upper layers of skin. Deeper Erbium treatments can improve the appearance of acne scars and the signs of aging. The MicroLaserPeel™ improves skin texture and tone, leaving patients with a clearer complexion and a healthy glow.

NanoLaserPeel™

The NanoLaserPeel™ from Sciton® is one of the most advanced methods of treating patients who want to enjoy beautiful skin. The NanoLaserPeel™ uses light energy to instantly remove the top layers of the skin to create beautifully smooth, luminous skin. There are many benefits to the NanoLaserPeel™ including fast treatment and little downtime.

Sciton® BroadBand Light™ Phototherapy

Sciton® BroadBand Light™ (BBL) is an innovative, light-based technology that uses pulses of light energy to gently remove acne, uneven skin texture, skin discoloration, vascular lesions, and unwanted hair. Sciton® BBL™ can treat any area of the body, with the most common areas being the face, neck, and shoulders. The treatment areas will be gently heated to stimulate collagen production and to restore skin to a more youthful appearance. Additionally, Sciton® produces photothermal energy to eliminate small blood vessels that contribute to exaggerated redness and sun damage.

PRP

PRP is platelet rich plasma.  This is a component of human blood that has regenerative and healing products within it.  Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) is a preparation of PRP that allows the benefits of the healing process to last longer.   PRFM works by removing a small sample from a patient’s arm and spinning it in a machine called a centrifuge.  This separates the blood cells from the platelets and plasma.  The platelets are thought to release growth factors that help cells repair and renew themselves.  This helps trigger the body’s ability to heal itself.

PRP or PRFM has been traditionally used to help repair muscles and tendons and more recently skin.  Hence, it is now able to be used in conjunction with skin reparative procedures such as blepharoplasty and laser skin resurfacing.  During these procedures, PRP or PRFM can be injected into the area to help the body heal itself.  There is no potential for rejection of the substance as it is a product of the individual patient themselves.  PRP or PRFM essentially harnesses the body’s own healing mechanisms to repair itself.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a non-invasive surgical procedure that softens lines and wrinkles, removes surface imperfections, and tightens and rejuvenates the skin. It is safer, longer-lasting, more effective and more predictable than dermabrasion or chemical peels. Results are seen immediately and continue to improve during the healing process.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

Laser skin resurfacing involves the use of the fractionated laser. The laser will create microscopic holes in the skin. This enables the skin surface to heal quickly, usually within several days. During this time and during the next several weeks, the collagen fibers under the surface of the skin are being regenerated. The collagen in the skin gives skin its integrity and structure. Essentially, the old dry and damaged skin cells and collagen are replaced with new cells and collagen fibers. This results in skin that appears more supple, youthful and healthy.

Commonly , PRP (platelet rich plasma) is infiltrated into the newly resurfaced skin. This provides the healing skin growth factors and nutrients to help it heal better and faster. The laser can be tuned to treat different areas of the face and different skin types and conditions. Skin damage ranging from mild to severe can be treated with different lasers and often in combination to obtain optimal results.

Healing time will vary with the amount of correction needed as determined by the underlying skin condition being treated. Initially, patients will cleanse the skin with a peroxide based cleanser routine followed by copius moisturizing with Aquaphor. After approximately 7-10 days, makeup can be applied as the healing continues.

Patients are usually seen 3 days after the procedure, then again at 10 days, 1 month and at 3 months. Of course, if there are any concerns, questions or issues that a patient has, they are seen whenever they need without delay.

Will I Need to Take Time Off Work?

Most people will need at least one week off from work to heal from laser skin resurfacing. Each day the skin will begin to look better and better. After approximately 7 days, makeup can be used to cover the pinkness of the skin. This pinkness typically lasts for several weeks and is a visible sign that the newer, tighter and smoother collagen is replacing the old damaged collagen. Erbium Skin Resurfacing

The Erbium Laser Skin Resurfacing is the treatment of choice for those who are looking to successfully decrease pore size, improve skin texture and clarity, as well as remove superficial lines to moderately deep wrinkles with less pain, fewer side-effects, and a more rapid recovery than other laser treatments. Erbium laser skin resurfacing precisely removes the outermost layer of the skin allowing the underlying smoother and younger appearing skin to be exposed. The procedure also activates collagen to promote further tightening of the skin. This procedure can address multiple patient concerns including scars, texture, wrinkles, skin tone and pigmentation conditions.

The erbium laser can be customized to each individual and to the specific area of the skin treated. Skin varies in thickness and in character depending on where it is located. Dr. Neufeld will help you create a customized treatment plan addressing your specific needs. Schedule your consultation today by calling 844-285-7363.

Laser Hair Removal

Sciton® BBL™ laser hair removal delivers photothermal energy to hair follicles to impede future growth. This Sciton® technology can also be used to address other skin conditions such as acne, scars, and pigmented lesions. BBL™ can treat multiple hair follicles at a time, minimizing treatment times. A series of treatments, spaced several weeks apart, is typically required for the best results. This laser is also ideal for patients with active lifestyles, as it safely treats most skin types and has virtually no downtime.
